Community Engagement Manager | QLD/NT | part-time

Face-to-face engagement with churches, Christian schools and other Christian communities on issues of social justice.  Connect with, support and empower Christians in Australia to engage in prayer, giving, advocacy, living justly, and learning.  This state-wide role is a challenging mix of doing the work yourself and organising volunteers who are empowered to do the work.  A typical day might see you meeting with church leaders, presenting at an event, following up supporters, organising volunteers and other activities which encourage supporters to engage more deeply on their journey with social justice (see TEAR’s five responses).

Is this you?

  • You want to see heaven on earth; your goal is to make sure that every Christian in Australia is challenged and empowered to make biblically-shaped responses to poverty and injustice.
  • You love the church and social justice; you understand the theological basis of integral mission and how it relates to the Australian church context.
  • You seize opportunities; you enjoy turning great introductions into committed relationships.  You’re confident fundraising, educating and inspiring others on their social justice journey.
  • You’re good at organising volunteers; you love inspiring others and supporting them to make a difference.  You understand the value of investing in others (and don’t mind making the effort required!) so their potential can be unleashed.
  • You’re a networker; you like meeting people and put effort into building and maintaining fruitful relationships.
  • You’re not afraid to take the lead; you can bounce easily between doing the work yourself, delegating to others, or operating at a strategic level.
  • You’re a multi-tasker. You’re used to managing multiple priorities, whist having the utmost care towards both large and small details from state-wide strategy to risk assessments. Making sure things get done is your forte.
  • You get TEAR; you love justice and long to contribute your skills to our mission so that everyone can reach their God-given potential.
