2020 Faith Based Community Organising Training

We recognise that in order to see a just and compassionate world become a reality we need to work together, using our voices, skills, time and energy to shift power, speak out and transform structures and systems which hurt, oppress and marginalise individuals and communities.

For many years now, TEAR has been at the forefront of calling for change to the systems and policies that degrade the earth and entrap people in cycles of extreme poverty and inequality. Our passion for good development has always been coupled with a desire to inspire Christians in Australia to embrace a biblically shaped response to poverty and injustice. For the last 40 years, TEAR has been actively working alongside the Australian Church to mobilise Christians to make biblically informed responses to poverty and injustice.

As a movement of Australian Christians, it is our belief that we have an ongoing role and calling to collectively and strategically work for change in ways that impact the lives of those experiencing extreme poverty for the better. Working collaboratively to address the root causes of poverty and injustice.

As part of this commitment, TEAR has developed Faith-Based Community Organising training which aims to equip grassroots leaders with skills and tools to work for change.

Our FBCO training is separated into two modules.

Module 1 explores:

  • A theology of Justice
  • Relational influencing
  • Story-telling
  • Understanding your context
  • Taking action

Module 2 explores:

  • Group facilitation
  • Power dynamics
  • Political Advocacy
  • Climate Justice
