On a recent trip to Nepal, TEAR staff had the privilege of meeting with one of our long-term partners, Share and Care Nepal.
Central to their work, and something that humbled and challenged us, is the role of Share and Care’s Christian staff. They’re so committed to being there and living as part of the community. They lived alongside the community during the catastrophic 2015 earthquake and all along have shared their joys and sorrows, the struggles and the celebrations. The gift that they really bring into this work is that they are ‘with them’, they are present, they understand the people, they understand what is going on and what needs to happen to bring about deep and lasting change.
Psalm 23 reminds us that God is utterly committed to our restoration, physically and spiritually. Watch the video the TEAR team created from their visit to Share and Care in Nepal.
Lord God, your very breath stirs our bones and enlivens our spirit. We give you thanks for the courageous, spirit-fuelled work of the Share and Care staff. It is your spirit who has led them into this work, locating them within remote and isolated communities in need of restoration of body, mind and soul. We see such a beautiful reflection of your generous faithfulness in our Christian partners. As sisters and brothers in Christ around the world, remind us that in drawing near to you, we draw nearer to each other. Keep us, our partners, and those facing poverty walking alongside each other – by you, and for you. Amen.
